Tree & Shrub Treatments — South Okanagan
Your trees and shrubs are long-term landscape investments — they take years to establish and can be lost quickly to uncontrolled pests or disease. A Cut Above Lawn Care & Landscaping provides professional tree and shrub pest and disease treatments for residential and commercial properties throughout the South Okanagan. Our licensed pesticide applicators identify specific issues and apply targeted treatments at the right time to protect your landscape plants.
The South Okanagan has a specific set of common tree and shrub pests: tent caterpillars, aphids, scale insects, spider mites in hot dry summers, and more. We also deal with diseases like fire blight in fruit and ornamental trees, powdery mildew on various ornamentals, and cytospora canker in stressed spruces. Early treatment makes a significant difference in outcomes — a mild infestation controlled promptly is far easier to manage than a severe one.
We follow integrated pest management (IPM) principles — identifying the pest or disease accurately, assessing the threshold at which treatment is warranted, and selecting the least-invasive effective treatment option. We explain every application clearly: what we’re using, why, what to expect, and what re-entry intervals apply for your family and pets.

Frequently Asked Questions
I see lots of sticky honeydew on surfaces under my tree — what’s causing it?
That’s almost certainly aphids or scale insects feeding on your tree and excreting the honeydew. You may also see sooty mold growing on the honeydew, which turns surfaces black. Both aphids and scale respond well to treatment. The sooty mold will gradually wash away once the honeydew source is eliminated.
My apple tree has brown, shriveled branches with leaves still on them — is it dying?
That sounds like fire blight, a bacterial disease that’s common in the Okanagan’s apple and pear trees. It moves fast in spring when temperatures are warm and wet. The good news is that it’s manageable with prompt pruning (cutting well below the infected tissue) and appropriate copper-based sprays. Don’t delay — fire blight can kill entire branches quickly if left untreated.
